Reduced tonnage of road salt per kilometre

    What we collect

This indicator tracks annual road salt consumption in terms of tonnes per kilometre used.

    Why we collect it

Winter road safety is an essential municipal priority that must be balanced by environmental concerns for the land and waters that become contaminated by salt runoff. Sustainable management of road salt is one such way to maintain this balance. By tracking this indicator we can monitor our road salt consumption to ensure all residents, land, and waters are safe.
