    Densification of new developments

    What we collect

This indicator measures the density of new residential, commercial, and industrial developments in terms of units per hectare.

    Why we collect it

Development density affects both individual and business occupants as well as the natural areas where developments are built. Monitoring the density of new developments will ensure minimal encroachment on natural areas while meeting the needs of building occupants.

Unfortunately we have not yet been able to find data for this indicator. The ICSP is a living document that relies on input from the community to continue to grow. We welcome any suggestions on data sources for this indicator, new ways to define the indicator that would be more measurable, or suggestions for alternative indicators for this focus area.
