To assist the County and Township Councils in the County of Frontenac in enabling persons with disabilities to have equal access to all opportunities within the County.
Duties of the Committee: The committee shall:
advise the councils about the legislative requirements and implementation of the accessibility standards and the preparation of accessibility reports and such other matters for which the council may seek its advice;
review in a timely manner the site plans and drawings described in section 41 of the Planning Act that the committee selects in terms of how they address the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities;
perform all other functions as specified by legislation.
in consultation with Council and Municipal Staff, review new and existing municipal by-laws and policies as applicable;
work with Council and the community at large to identify and address the needs of persons with disabilities within the community;
provide recommendations to Councils on the promotion of public awareness and understanding of the needs of persons with disabilities.
